These projects offer a wide range of activities, from setting up inventories to the digitisation of selected collections and the restoration of specific documents. The objectives common to all projects are improved access to photographic archives and items, as well as making them available to the public.

Preservation and restoration work

The restoration of photographic records is a recent skill, which involves the same methodology used in the preservation of other cultural assets.

It is based on three essential elements:

  • perfect knowledge of the history of photography and photographic processes
  • technical skills
  • the application of the international charter for restoration
